Why Is Your Poor Sounding Car Radio So Loud?

Today's Rant:  Throbbing Treble / Your Crappy Car Stereo:

Look, far be it from me to complain about a loud car stereo...I get it.  Been there, done that, needed the attention myself as a young man.  BUT, if you are the person who feels the need to have your car stereo heard from hundreds of feet away, please, SPEND MONEY and make it sound good.  You either spent all your money on a subwoofer to get boom, but no clarity (so all we hear are your panels vibrating), or you spent money on an amplifier only and your truck sounds like a megaphone with all midrange/treble frequencies.

When I am looking at you, scowling in dislike and anger, it is not because of your volume, it is because your throbbing treble is truly hurting my ears, offensive to everyone, and makes you look silly and stupid, which is not likely the attention you are craving.  You THINK it sounds great and that we are impressed, but it sounds like a really loud Taco Bell drive thru speaker.

Buy some new gear, and try to be like the fellow in Sanford who drives up and down the downtown streets blaring his radio, and no one really complains because it is crystal clear, balanced, and good music (videos in comments below).  HAHA. If I was a cop, It would be less likely that I give you a ticket for your volume as I would for the poor quality of your sound.  Step it up, or turn it down.   <rant off>
